BELOT (Gabriel). L'Ile St Louis. [Paris : the author], 1917. - In-8, bradel half brown morocco with bands, smooth spine decorated at the ends with a dark green morocco piece, gilt head, untrimmed, cover preserved (Trinckvel). First edition dedicated to the philosopher and writer Han Ryner (1861-1938), of the first work written, illustrated and printed by the painter and engraver Gabriel Belot (1882-1962). It is a collection of prose poems that the author illustrated with 47 original woodcuts in the text and on the full page, most of which are printed in two tones. Only 66 copies of the edition were printed, signed by the author at the justification. This is one of the 50 numbered copies on China paper. Beautiful copy bound by Trinckvel for the politician and art lover Olivier Sainsère (1852-1923), one of Pablo Picasso's patrons. The green morocco pieces on the spine are partially detached. Some minor foxing. Provenance: Olivier Sainsère, with bookplate.
