Several views of the same site by Jean-Joseph-Xavier Bidauld are known. B2. Umbrella Pine in the Roman Countryside, paper mounted on canvas, 26 x 35 cm. B3. Chapel of the Virgin in Subiaco, paper mounted on canvas, 26 x 22 cm. Several artists painted this site, including Finley Breese Morse (these views are later, the hole in the embankment to the right of the building has been filled in). B4. "Arch of the Volta Toretta," section of the Anio Vetus, near Tivoli, paper marouflaged on canvas, 25.5 x 39 cm. There is a view of the same site by Jean-Charles Rémond. B5. Louis-Vincent-Léon Pallière (Bordeaux, 1787 - 1820), View of the district of Ripa (Aventine) with the villa Malta in the foreground, paper marouflé on canvas, 34.5 x 58.5 cm, signed lower center "L Pallière Rome 1815". The Villa Malta, which has been transformed several times, has been represented by many painters, including François-Marius Granet, Johan-Cristian Dahl and Franz-Ludwig Catel. Louis-Vincent-Léon Pallière was a student of François-André Vincent at the Beaux-Arts de Paris. He won the Prix de Rome in 1812 with his composition Ulysses and Telemachus Slaughtering the Pretenders, and stayed at the Villa Medici until 1816. There he met again with Vinchon, who had been living there since 1814. It is not impossible that the artists traveled together through the Italian countryside and exchanged their views of landscapes.
