CRATÈRE - Art grec, Apulie, IVe s. Av. J.-C.

Bell-shaped krater with red figures whose face A is decorated with a scene with a satyr holding a tympanon and an ephebe holding a thyrse under a frieze of olive leaves. The B side is decorated with two ephebes in conversation, draped in their himation. Orange-beige clay with black glaze and white paint highlights. Old restorations are visible, otherwise beautiful conservation. The inside of the foot has been filled in with plaster. Greek art, Apulia, 4th century B.C. H. 30.5 cm Provenance : Simonet-Brincard family, early 20th century.
