Famous edition, known as the "Kehl" edition, published under the direction of Condorcet and Decroix, printed by Beaumarchais in the printing house he had specially installed at the fort of Kehl, with the type engraved by Baskerville that he had recently acquired. Some pieces and part of the correspondence appear here for the first time. ONE OF THE RARE LARGE DELUXE COPIES IN-8, WITH LARGE MARGINS, ON ENGLISH VELLUM. The titles are dated 1785, except those of volumes 12, 18, 20, 21, 22, 23, 24, 25, 32, 35 and 37 which are dated 1784 and the seventieth published in 1789. Several damaged headpieces, rubbed with use, cracks on the spines, rare wormholes. Cracking to some hinges. Missing the first box of volumes 11, 16 and 29. Title of volume 22 lined and showing small tears with two missing edges. Damage to the first cover of volumes 29 and 49. Some foxing and rare spotting.
