MIDDLE AGE. Set of 2 charters. 13th century. Belonging to the Order of Fontevraud, the female priory of Fontaines, located in the present-day commune of Douy-la-Ramée in the department of Seine-et-Marne, was founded at the beginning of the 12th century and enjoyed the protection of the counts of Champagne for a long time. - CHAMPAGNE (Blanche of Navarre, countess of). Handwritten document. Meaux, March 1208 [1207, old style]. 1 p. of size approximately 15 x 68 mm on parchment with flap, silk lakes preserved, seal missing. Here titled "Countess Palatine of Troyes," she gives to the Abbey of Fontaines a field at Chambry (in the present-day department of Seine-et-Marne) to which will be attached a cens to be paid to her and her heirs. "Ego Blancha comitissa Trecensium palatina presentibus & futuris notum facio quod pratum de Camberilliaco, quod dicitur pratum de La Messeria, quod continet circiter tres quarteros, monialibus de Fontanis dedi in perpetuum & concessi, ita quod singulis annis in festo sancti Remigii de prato illo mihi vel heredibus meis reddent duodecim denarios de censu... " Daughter of King Sanche VI of Navarre and widow of Count Thibaut III of Champagne, she then exercised the regency and defended the interests -MAUX (Guillaume de Nemours, éveque de). Donation by Simon de Mancigny of five sols of cens on a barn and land located in Chambry, for the benefit of the female abbey of Fontaines. "Willelmus dei gratia meldensis episcopus omnibus presentes litteras inspecturis in Domino salutem. Notum facimus quod Symon de Mancigniaco, miles, dedit & conscessit fide data in perpetuam elemosinam ecclesie de Fontanis quinque solidos super grangian dicte ecclesie sitam apud Chamberi, & duo arpenta & dimidium terre site apud Chamberi in loco qui appelatur Les Noes, quam terram tenebat de eadem ecclessia, laudante hoc Johanne, milite de Mancigni, de quo Symon dictum censum in feodo tenebat de eadem ecclesia, laundate hoc johanne, milite de magcigni, de quo Symon dictum censum in feodo tenebat, & promittente fide data quod contra hanc elemosinam venire nullatenus attemptaret..." Coming from the powerful Le Riche family, Guillaume de Nemours was the son of a great chamberlain of Louis VII.
