Description
Important saddle "à la royale", of parade. Entirely covered with red velvet over-stitched and embroidered with foliage scrolls in yellow and silver silk threads, bordered with a braid in passementerie. Troussequins decorated with a brass studding. Brown leather fonts with gilded brass tips with large chaperones and purses covered with red velvet fully and richly embroidered with silver and gold threads, cannetille and bangs, decorated with trophies of arms and armor. Small quarters embroidered with fleur-de-lis and foliage. Croupelin cover richly decorated with embroidery in suite, in gold and silver threads, trophies of arms, drums, flags, marked in ink under the saddle and dated "1765". 18th century. It would have been made for a Spanish ambassador. (Velvet filed, embroidery worn, restorations, missing caps of the fonts).
