1909 CHENARD & WALKER TYPE T II 8 CV DOUBLE PHAETON

1909 CHENARD & WALCKER TYPE T II 8HP DOULE PHAETON _x000D_ Serial number 6220_x000D_ Nice original condition _x000D_ Many period accessories_x000D_ Collector's grey card _x000D_ Prestigious pre-war French brand, Chenard et Walcker started by producing small motorized tricycles in the 1890s before releasing the first 4-wheeled car in 1900. _x000D_ Featuring a two-cylinder engine, it was quite different from the rest of the production in France. When the company moved near Paris in 1906, it was awarded an important order for a cab car for the capital, which allowed Chenard et Walcker to swell its numbers and to start designing more personal cars. _x000D_ It was at this time that the Type T was born with its relatively modern 4-cylinder engine for its time coupled with its 4-speed gearbox. _x000D_ A particularity of this model is that there are only two pedals on the floor, one of them controls the cable brakes and the clutch and splits in two at the level of its stroke; this requires some time to adapt. _x000D_ Our example was registered in February 1909 in its current double-phaeton body. Particularly well preserved, it has been restored to its former glory and now displays an elegant patina. Delivered with a number of period accessories: wooden boxes, cans, meters, this phaeton is still today a statutory and admired car.
