1963 JAGUAR TYPE E SERIE 1 3,8L

"1963 JAGUAR E-TYPE COUPE Serial number 2019EZ04131 Condition competition More than 100 000 euros of restoration costs Mythical car in the automotive history French collector's title "One of the most beautiful dresses in the history of the automobile, an engine with a prodigious breath propelling the car to 240 km/h, all for half the price of a Ferrari!". Launched at the 1961 Geneva Motor Show, the Jaguar E-Type succeeded the XK150, the last of the XK series, and was the fastest production car in the world (240 km/h). L After three years of success, especially in the United States, the uncomfortable, hard-to-drive "XK-E" with its Moss four-speed gearbox had to be modernized to face the new generation of Ferraris and the new Porsche 911 encroaching on its "affordable" sports car market. That's why the 3.8L was swapped for a 4.2L to gain in flexibility, while the Moss gearbox was replaced by a Jaguar four-speed. Finally, the interior lost its aluminum trim and its semi-baquet seats for more comfort. Above all, the E-Type kept its pure design which made all its charm. Production lasted from 1961 to 1973 and was divided into 3 models (convertible, coupe and 2+2) and 3 series. There have been many evolutions and modifications throughout the life of this model, often for regulatory reasons in the USA, sometimes to improve performance or practicality. The model we present is a 1963 Series 1 coupe, just out of restoration. Originally sold to a lady in Texas, this Jaguar was bought by the director of the Frankfurt stock exchange who brought it back to Germany. Its current owner had it restored in Germany before bringing it back to France and registering it as a collector's car. Entrusted to the Leo Peschl workshop in Cologne, a Maserati and Jaguar specialist in Germany, the car has been completely dismantled to be restored and reworked in every detail. The car has an added air conditioning, only visible by the compressor installed in the engine compartment. The rest is not visible. This makes the vehicle ready for longer distances, knowing that E-type coupes are known to have a very hot interior after a few minutes of driving... The wheels are new Borrani, with new historical Michelin tires, in original size. Engine wise, the cylinder head is new (the original one comes with it), a 1 ½ series mastervac that performs better than the original Dunlop was installed. The engine is equipped with the Getrag 5 speed long deck transmission, very pleasant to drive on all types of roads. The vehicle has done approximately 1000kms since restoration and has never seen water since. An important photo file documents the entire restoration and attests to the quality of the work done. Originally red with a black leather interior, it is now gun metal grey with a tobacco leather interior. A stopwatch and a removable watch are in the glove box. Ideal for regularity rallies with a car in perfect condition, which includes original improvements. This Jaguar is the perfect car for a gentleman driver!
