"1963 AUSTIN-HEALEY 3000 MKII Serial number : 21529 Very nice restored example In near new condition French title Born in 1898, Donald Healey quickly became interested in automobile mechanics. He became a pilot and then an engineer for Riley and later for Triumph. During the Great War, he met the people with whom he would later produce his first Healey. Various models followed and Healey was convinced of the potential of his cars. Wishing to distinguish himself in competition (following already promising successes), he wanted to produce a roadster for which only the engine and the distribution network were missing. Born from an agreement between the "Austin Motor Company" division of the "British Motor Corporation" and Donald Healey, the Austin-Healey brand was born in England in 1952. From then on, the English manufacturer will produce sports cars until 1972. Globally, three models of Austin Healey will represent the range of the manufacturer: the Austin-Healey 100, the Austin Healey 3000 and the Austin-Healey Sprite. The Austin-Healey was produced between 1959 and 1967 by the company Jensen Motors. Nicknamed Big Healey because of its 3-liter engine, it will come in three versions: MK1, MK 2 and MK 3. The Mark 1 takes the body of the Austin-Healey 100 but the 3.0L replaces the 2.6L. The engine will be fed by two SU carburetors. The Mark 2 will be fed not by two but by three SU carburetors (only the first year because difficult to adjust) and will be differentiated by a vertical bars grille. It will be produced only in 2+2 version (code BJ7). The Mark 3 will also be produced only in 2+2 and will be more powerful and luxurious than its big sisters. The example we present is an Austin-Healey 3000 MK2 BJ7 from 1962. Completely stripped, sandblasted and restored, it is now in a very nice general condition. The bodywork is not misaligned and the new paint is in the original red color. It comes with gleaming chrome and matte gray painted wheels. Under the hood, the 3.0L six-cylinder is in perfect market condition. It has of course been dismantled, restored and reassembled. The exhaust line is not pierced. The gearbox works without any problem and is equipped with an overdrive that also works. The car comes with its soft top and a tonneau cover. So if the call of a sporty ride reaches your ears, one press of a button separates you from the hushed sound of this beautiful Austin-Healey.
