Description

Madeleine BLONDEL de TILLY, known as Mademoiselle d'OUTRELAISE, nicknamed LA DIVINE [Circa 1621 - 1706]. A woman of spirit in vogue in the 17th century, in the entourage of Madame de Sévigné, Madame de Scudéry, Madame de La Fayette, Madame de Maintenon and Madame de Frontenac - Madame de Frontenac (the wife of the Governor of Quebec) and Mademoiselle d'Outrelaise were inseparable. They both lodged at the Arsenal in a large apartment placed at the disposal of Mademoiselle de Frontenac by the Duke of Lude, Grand Master of the Artillery - Piece written and signed "Madeleine BLONDEL D'OUTRELAISE" of her hand, 1 page in-8 oblong, Paris, January 31, 1696. Mademoiselle Madeleine Blondel d'Outrelaise, "girl of full age living at the Château de l'Arsenal", acknowledges having received from Mr. de Garnetot the sum of seven hundred livres out of the four thousand due to her. [We have found a link between Mademoiselle d'Outrelaise and the de Garnetot family: in 1692, Jean Charles Blondel de Tilly had married Né de Faoucq, the daughter of Etienne de Garnetot de Faoucq - It remains to be seen how related Madeleine was to Jean Charles, her Aunt? and the reason for these four thousand livres, a very important sum at the time].
