MIRBEAU, Octave The diary of a chambermaid. Etchings by Lobel-Riche Paris, Javal et Bourdeaux. 1926 In-4°, full red mosaic morocco signed Gruel. Covers preserved. Geometrical decoration on the boards and the spine, extending on the cuts and the back covers, composed of straight, simple and bold fillets, dotted fillets, simple and bold, and bands of black morocco. Guards of moire. Gilt head. The work is illustrated with 20 original etchings in three states. Edition at 195 copies only, all on Arches paper. It is enriched with an erotic gouache, attributable to Courbouleix. The invoice of the workshop Léon Gruel, then directed by Paul Gruel, his grandson, amounting to 38000 francs, with the mention "Paid on 30/10/48". (Monod : n°8207) Expert : Mr Jean-Paul Veyssiere.
