1888-1894. Photo album of a French lieutenant in mission in the region of Cao-Bang (Upper Tonkin, border with China). Italian format. Dimensions: 35x42,5 cm. Bound in cloth-covered cardboard (tears and missing parts), spine and corners in leather (poor condition). Approximately 170 glued and captioned albumen prints. Life of the garrison: Officers and annamites. Lieutenants (Nicolle, Boulanger, Bellion, Captain Desgres de Loü, Coville, Commander Lamary) Tonkinese riflemen, the Circle and posts (Ngan-Son, Ke-Bao, Mon-Cay, Lang-Son, Haî-Dzuong) discipline section, military hospital, Mission of Doctor Major A. Billet, Review of July 14, 1894, Colonel Vallière, leaders of the Chinese congregation, scenes of execution of Chinese pirates, chess games with living characters, topographical mission of Lieutenant Obend'Hal.
