Description

1889 Reign of H.M. Thanh Thai (1889-1907). Kim Khanh, first class badge in the form of a ceremonial gong, composed of two gilded 925°/°° silver plates decorated with dragons fighting for the sacred pearl, dominating on the obverse the ideograms of the title "Kim Khanh of the first class" (Mot Hang Kim Khanh) and on the reverse "Offered by imperial decree of His Majesty the Emperor of the Great South" (Dai Nam Hoang De Sac Tu). It surmounts a pearl tassel in the shape of Tam Son, symbol of Eternity decorated with four ideograms of peace and 5 hanging bangs. The Khanh was the highest distinction of the Annam Empire. Its name is identical to that of a ceremonial gong supposed to propagate the personal good words engraved on its surface. Length: 8,1 cm. Total height: 17 cm. Gross weight: 34 g.
