Tondo en verre figurant la Parque Atropos. Flandres. Première moitié du 16ème siècle.

A Flemish stained glass depicting Atropos. First half 16th century. Provenance: Christie's, Amsterdam, 26-27.03.2013, lot 63; Jan Koldeweij Antiques, Helvoirt The woman seated on the ox appears to be Atropos, one of the Three Faites from Greek mythology that decided a human's destiny. They assigned a person to good or evil. Clotho spun the thread of life, Lachesis measured the thread of life and Atropos cut the thread. As mentioned in the Christie's catalogue note variants of this glass are in the Museum van het Heilig Bloed, Bruges; at Wilton, Wiltshire (W. Cole, A Catalogue of Netherlandish and North European Roundels in Britain, Oxford, 1993, no. 2467) and formerly in the Koenigs Collection, Haarlem. Diam.: 21.5 cm
