SEVRES, reign of Charles X, 1827 Rare pair of vases called "Etruscan Turpin", in porcelain, decorated with two small gilded handles on the shoulder, ovoid form on pedestal, decorated with oak garlands and palmettes, standing out on a brown background, gold nets. Square gilt bronze bases. Height: 39,5 cm The two vases are damaged, restored and worn to the gilding PROVENANCE : These vases seem to have belonged to Madame de Récamier (1802-1859), then to her heiress and adoptive daughter Amélie Cyvoct Lenormant, and to have been sold at the time of her succession at the Hôtel Drouot, on November 29, 1893. Only one pair of Etruscan Turpin vases with brown background and oak leaves garland seems to have been made in 1827 at the Sèvres factory, the other pairs being with blue background.
